These days the majority of drivers still use traditional cars like a used BMW with internal combustions engines that operate on fuels like petrol, liquid petroleum gas or diesel. But things are about to change. Obviously this will not happen overnight as this kind of transformation always take some time, but over next few decades, all the traditional cars like the used BMW’s of the world will be replaced by environmentally friendly electric cars. Up to now we have been using rather little renewable energy in the automotive sector but, because of the rising costs of fossil fuels, car companies realise that the only way to stay competitive in the market is to start making more electric cars. Older designs could not compete with cars propelled by petrol engines in terms of performance but now, as technology moves on, new models of electric cars can easily go as fast as their petrol equivalents and can go up to two hundred mph using one on-board battery. Another thing that is making electric cars more and more popular among motorist is the doubtless positive impact on the natural environment that is not affected by pollution generated by older traditional cars. This is why drivers start to choose electric cars rather than, for example, a used BMW.
