Innovation on Wheels – A Used Mercedes Benz A160

The A-Class was first introduced in 1993 and was originally designed to be powered by only electrical engines. But cars of this class went on sale in 1997, and all of them were equipped with conventional power plants: petrol or diesel types. The used Mercedes Benz A160 is a member of this big family, and even today it is a very safe car. However safe a used Mercedes Benz A160 is today, it wasn’t like that from the beginning. Shortly after it hit the market, one of the Swedish car magazines conducted a famous “elk test” on the car and it rolled over spectacularly. The manufacturer quickly withdrew the A-Class from the market and heavily modified the construction. Now, every used Mercedes Benz A160 is just packed full of safety features, such as the “sandwich floor” (it allows the engine and gearbox to slide under the passengers in an accident), ABS anti lock brakes, brake assist and the ESP electronic stability system. The used Mercedes Benz A160 can be equipped with one of three available engines, all of them rather small: a 1.4 litre (82 horsepower, 106 mph maximum speed), a 1.6 litre (102 horsepower, 114 mph maximum speed) and a 1.7 litre direct injection diesel unit (90 horsepower, 109 mph maximum speed).
